GUO Daya (郭达雅) is a Chinese AI researcher who was a core researcher at DeepSeek before reportedly joining ByteDance's Seed team in early 2026 as an Agent lead at L8 level. He was a lead researcher on DeepSeek's influential R1 model and co-authored numerous key DeepSeek papers including DeepSeek-Coder, DeepSeek-Math, DeepSeek-Prover, DeepSeek-V3, and DeepSeek-R1.
Guo completed his Ph.D. at Sun Yat-sen University's School of Data and Computer Science, where he was jointly supervised by Professor Jian Yin of Sun Yat-sen and Dr. Ming Zhou of Microsoft Research Asia (MSRA). During his MSRA internship, he contributed to CodeBERT and GraphCodeBERT.
He won three consecutive Tencent Advertising Algorithm Competition championships (2019-2021) and the Ant ATEC Technology Elite Competition. His Google Scholar citations exceed 3,800.
His reported move to ByteDance Seed was one of the highest-profile AI talent moves in China in 2026.
