HUANG Fei (黄飞)
Chief Scientist & Senior Director, Language Technologies Lab, DAMO Academy
HUANG Fei (黄飞, also known as 黄非) is the Chief Scientist and Senior Director of the Language Technologies Lab at Alibaba DAMO Academy. He leads NLP foundational technology, dialogue systems, and machine translation R&D teams, which developed the AliNLP platform serving hundreds of internal and external clients.
Prior to Alibaba, he led machine translation development at Facebook AML, helping reduce language barriers for billions of users. He was also a senior researcher at IBM Watson after graduating from Carnegie Mellon University with a Ph.D. focusing on language technologies.
He has published 30+ papers and holds 20+ patents on machine translation and multilingual NLP. He has served as Area Chair at ACL-IJCNLP 2015 and NLPCC 2018.
