FENG Jiashi (冯佳时)
(former) Visual Foundation Model lead, ByteDance Seed — departed 2025
FENG Jiashi (冯佳时) was the head of visual foundation model research at ByteDance Seed, where he led the visual basic research team for the Doubao large model. He departed ByteDance in August 2025.
He received his B.S. from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 2007, his M.S. from the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and his Ph.D. from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2014. From 2014-2015, he was a postdoc at UC Berkeley, and from 2016-2021, he served as an Assistant Professor at NUS, where he succeeded his mentor Yan Shuicheng as head of the Machine Learning and Vision Lab.
He joined ByteDance in 2019 (some sources say 2021) and became one of the 8 key figures in the company's Top Seed talent program. He has published over 400 papers, received MIT Technology Review 'Innovators Under 35' Asia award, ACM MM Best Student Paper Award, ICCV TASK-CV Best Paper Award, and served as Area Chair for CVPR, ICML, ICLR, and NeurIPS.
