TANG Jie (唐杰, born c. 1977) is the co-founder and controlling shareholder of Zhipu AI (智谱), a leading Chinese AI foundation model company that went public on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in January 2026 as the world's first publicly listed LLM company.
He is also a WeBank Chair Professor at Tsinghua University's Department of Computer Science. Tang launched Zhipu in 2019 with Liu Debing, who serves as chairman.
The company was added to the U.S. government's Entity List in March 2025. Tang is a leading researcher in artificial general intelligence, data mining, social networks, and knowledge graphs.
Zhipu's GLM model series serves over 12,000 enterprise clients and 45 million developers.
