WU Yonghui (吴永辉)
Head of Seed foundational research, ByteDance (since February 2025)
WU Yonghui (吴永辉) is the Head of foundational research at ByteDance Seed, a position he assumed in February 2025. He previously served as Vice President of Research at Google DeepMind, where he was involved in the Gemini large model project and had a 17-year career at Google.
Wu is an alumnus of Nanjing University. At Google, he led the neural machine translation system GNMT and participated in Gemini's research.
Since joining ByteDance, he reports directly to CEO Liang Rubo and has restructured Seed's research organization, focusing on improving base model capabilities and building a world-class AI research team. Under his leadership, Seed has maintained around 1,500 staff and developed Doubao 2.0, a trillion-parameter multimodal model.
