YANG Jianchao (杨建超)

YANG Jianchao (杨建超) was the head of visual multimodal generation at ByteDance Seed, responsible for the Doubao large model's visual multimodal direction. He announced a temporary leave in July 2025, with his position being taken over by Zhou Chang (formerly of Alibaba's Qwen team).

Prior to ByteDance, Yang worked as a visual algorithm researcher at Adobe and Snapchat. He joined ByteDance in 2018 and took full responsibility for visual model development since 2023.

His leave was attributed to difficulties balancing work rhythms between North America and China, long-term pressure, and family reasons.
