ZHANG Yutao (张宇韬) is the co-founder and CTO of Moonshot AI. In his early 30s, he oversees the company's technical architecture and model development.
He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Tsinghua University, where he was advised by Professor Tang Jie, the co-founder of Zhipu. He was a classmate of Yang Zhilin and Zhou Xinyu at Tsinghua's Computer Science Department (Class of 2011 undergraduate).
Moonshot AI's chatbot Kimi has more than 50 million monthly active users across its app and web editions; the company's valuation moved from roughly $3.3 billion in late 2024 reports to a reported $20 billion financing mark in May 2026.
